BREECH SEATING NOTES - Cast Bullet Forum

Dec 11, 2014 · Breech seating the bullet is suggested as a method of eliminating the leap and accuracy reduction. It has been noted that the .22 rimfire can exhibit supurb accuracy, and that the heeled groove sized + bullet is sort of breech seated. Years ago we loaded rifles from the muzzle and were able to shoot very accurately.

Help Needed: 38 Ballard Extra Long - forum.castbulletassoc.org

Dec 08, 2008 · Bart posted this 16 November 2008. I'm considering buying a nice stevens tip up in .38 ballard Extra Long. I know I can use .357 Maximum cases, and NEI makes a .375 heeled bullet 171 grains which sounds like it would work nicely. I am very experienced caster and hand loader, but heeled bullets and this caliber are all new to me.

Schuetzen! | The Firearms Forum

Nov 12, 2020 · As you've expressed an interest in Schuetzen matches and rifles there is at least one book you NEED. That is "Alte Scheibenwaffen, Volume 1". You can find it on Amazon and I believe the German Gun Collector's Assn. has it as well. Don't choke at the price, it ain't a $5.00 paperback but, the photography alone is worth the tariff.

ASSRA Forum - Muzzle - breech loading.

May 26, 2021 · I have a Schoyen Ballard that's a muzzle loader in .38-55 and has a pretty large groove for a .38-55 at .383", and I use the .38 Hudson bullet in it. I've tried muzzle loading, and breech seating with the Ballard and it shoots the Hudson bullet well either way.

25-20 SS bullets - Gunloads.com

Nov 03, 2015 · I have a Stevens Model 44 25-20 SS rifle the action of which has been reworked to the tolerances needed for complete safety. Its bore has been relined. The barrel is 24 inches and the twist is 15". Will a 105 gr. .848" tapered breech seat bullet work? I have an opportunity to purchase a used Hoch mold, but I think it's too much bullet for a 15" twist bore.

Stuck Muzzle Loader Breech Plug - Walleye Message Central

Sep 07, 2007 · I went to clean it today. The nipple came out fine. The breech plug won't budge. I tried "Liquid Wrench" by spraying the breech plug down and standing the barrel vertically for about 30 minutes. No dice. Knight has a special tool for removing the nipple and plug with holes in it for "extra torque" if needed.

32-40 - Cast Bullet Forum

Mar 07, 2018 · Today, I am shooting two .32-20's in CBA and ASSRA matches, life runs in circles. A Remington Rolling Block in .38-55 was my starting rifle in Schuetzen competition. Chambered by a gunsmith who understood breech seating, it was a paradox. One time it was competitive, shooting minute-of-angle and the next time it was shooting improved cylinder.

How to Take Care of Your Muzzleloader | An Official

Dec 17, 2010 · Shooting a muzzleloader causes two basic types of fouling: ignition-based and propellant-based. The ignition-based residue is the bulk of the primer compound that bakes onto actions and the inside of the breech plug.
